Natural Capital Assessment : Risk and Opportunities for Financial Institutions in West Africa Webinar

20 Aug, 2021 | Media Update

Natural capital Assessment is rapidly gaining more traction and interest at the level of business and financial institutions. This is because it is now generally understood that integrating natural capital in decision-making allows for better risk management and support the bottom line and meet societal expectation in halting and reversing the heavy loss of natural resources.

There is a growing interest in nature-based solutions to climate change and environmental degradation in West Africa. However, for the financial institutions (FIs) in West Africa, there is a low level of awareness and understanding of natural capital thinking.  Hence this webinar stands to provide responses to these questions: Why should financial institutions take action on biodiversity risk? Why should the natural capital assessment be of relevance? What are the impacts and dependencies? How can ‘Connecting Finance and Natural Capital: A Supplement to the Natural Capital Protocol’ support the FIs to assess how their business is impacted by and depends upon the natural world? With practical examples, how can risks and opportunities be understood in natural capital assessment?

Target Audience:

ESG analysts, environmental and social managers, responsible investment managers, due diligence specialists, risk managers, analysts, and portfolio managers.
