Climate change, globalization and technological change are creating a shift in the skills needed for the new labour market and current jobs. The global push for a low carbon economy and sustainability requires new skills and qualifications creating the potential for green jobs with an impact on current and existing jobs.

To respond to these new changes in technology and changing conditions of the climate, new skills will be required. Skills gaps have been recognized as a major bottleneck in several sectors, such as renewable energy, energy and resource efficiency, renovation of buildings, construction, environmental services, manufacturing etc.
